Review
Scotts Turf Builder Tall Fescue Grass Seed Mix should be planted in either Spring or Fall when temperatures range between 60 and 80 degrees (optimum seeding time is around Labor Day). Planting your seeds two weeks after or before that holiday will ensure that the new seedlings will have time to build some strong roots before Winter hits. You can also plant Scotts Tall Fescue Mix in the Springtime to take advantage of the heavier rainfall and moderate temperatures. It takes an average of 6 to 30 days to germinate.
For the best results, rake the area to loosen up top soil layer and to remove dead grass. Add a very thin layer of Turf Builder LawnSoil prior to seed application. Use a spreader, followed by lightly raking seeds into the soil. Scotts Starter Food for New Grass can be applied at this time. Water enough to keep your soil surface moist, up until seedlings are about 2 inches tall. The WaterSmart coating helps to prevent seedlings from drying out if you skip a few days of watering.
A 3-pound bag covers 330 square feet if used for bare spot repair or new lawns, and approximately 750 square feet when used for reseeding.
